G7 Non Barre Chord Shape w/ Root Note On The E String
G7 Chord Shape
This Chord Shape Is Great For Playing Jazz & Blues Style Rhythm Guitar. But Of Course, You’re Not Limited To Jazz & Blues.
But It’s Very Comfortable Because There Is No Barre Technique Here.
The Muting Of The A & High E String Is Happening More Or Less Automatically, If You Use This Fingering. The Index Finger Will Do The Job Here.
G7 Non Barre Chord Shape w/ Root Note On The A String
G7 Chord Diagram
This Chord Shape Is Mandatory For Every Guitarist Who Is Playing In A Band.
It Sounds Best If You Don’t Strum The Low E String. Alternatively You Can Mute That String With Your Thumb. Take A Look At The Photo Above To See How.
But If You Try That On A Classical Nylon String Guitar, Then It’s Gonna Be Way Too Hard Because Of The Bigger Sized Neck.

This Shape Might Be A Difficult One. Mainly Due To The Barre.
If You Struggle With The Barre Technique, Then I Recommend That You Spend Some Practice Time On This Hurdle, Cause Once You Are Able To Play Barre Chords More Or Less Effortlessly, Then You Can Play Almost Every Chord & Therefore Most Of The Songs That You Probably Wanna Play In The Near Future.
It’s Really Worth The Effort.
And I Highly Recommend That You Go Through This Lesson Here Where I Teach A Very Effective Way On How To Learn Barre Chords Faster.

This Shape Is Just Slightly Different Than The Previous One.
The Only Difference Is The Note On The B String. So It Has A Different Sound.
Just Try And Decide If You Prefer This One Here.

This Shape Is Also A Common Dominant Seventh Shape.
In The Case Of The G7 Chord It Is Very High On The Guitar Neck Therefore It Sounds Less Full.
Personally, I’m Not Using This Shape For The G7 Chord.
But It Might Be The Right Sound For Your Specific Situation.
Just Try & Decide.
Tip: Mute The Low E String By Slightly Touching It With Your Index Finger. See On The Photo Above For Reference.
